WEEK 1 – FOUNDATIONS OF ADHD COACHING
• Psychoeducation: What is ADHD/Coaching basics
• ADHD coaching government reimbursements (EAF Scheme)
• Common patterns/challenges in ADHD clients
• STEP 1 OF CHART – Locate the goal
• 30-min PRACTICAL: Case study analysis – identifying goals in sample ADHD client
scenarios using CHART Step 1
WEEK 2 – THE INITIAL CONSULTATION
• How initial consultations look with ADHD clients
• Building rapport with neurodivergent clients
• Assessment tools and intake processes
• Understanding client’s unique ADHD presentation
• Red flags and when to refer
• 30-min PRACTICAL: Role-play initial consultation with feedback on rapport-building and
assessment
WEEK 3 – PROCESSING MODALITIES & COGNITIVE STYLES
• Comorbid disorders (ADHD/ASD/OCD) – brief overview
• Procrastination types
• Cognitive processing styles/modalities
• Imposter syndrome
• STEP 2 – CHART: HOLD UP THE MIRROR
• 30-min PRACTICAL: Sensory checklist application + identifying client’s processing style in
case examples
WEEK 4 – TASK MOTIVATION & PRIORITISATION
• Remove the thorns toolkit / Eisenhower’s Matrix
• Green lights (pathways) and Red lights (roadblocks) to accessing attention
• Time blindness and task initiation challenges
• 30-min PRACTICAL: Students practise Eisenhower Matrix with ADHD-specific scenarios +
Remove the Thorns exercise
WEEK 5 – UNPACKING THE CHART MODEL
• CHART model – going through each step in depth
• CHART Step 3: Weeding the garden
• Different types of cognitive biases
• Recognising and challenging limiting beliefs
• PRACTICAL: Identifying cognitive biases in client transcripts + practise reframing
exercises
WEEK 6 – EXECUTIVE FUNCTION CHALLENGES
• Psychoeducation: Memory, Working Memory
• Task Positive Network and Task Negative Network
• Executive function circuits (what, when, why, who)
• Levels of EF and their impact on daily functioning
• PRACTICAL: Prioritising tasks (buckets/triage plan) + Alter egos exercise application
WEEK 7 – EMOTIONAL DYSREGULATION & BOUNDARIES
• Emotional dysregulation management
• Rumination and attention control
• The importance of emotional granularity
• Setting healthy boundaries (coach and client)
• Burnout prevention strategies
• PRACTICAL: Burnout strategy tool + Feeling Wheel exercise for emotional awareness
WEEK 8 – ADVANCED CHART APPLICATION
• Reviewing CHART Steps 4-7 (Action, Review, Track)
• Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs in ADHD context
• Integrating NLP techniques (chunking, reframing)
• Using Socratic questioning
• PRACTICAL: Full CHART walkthrough with practice client – students identify each step
WEEK 9 – PRACTISING ADHD COACHING PT. 1
• Break-away/Demonstration practical coaching session
• Watch demo recording prior to lecture
• Live demonstration with volunteer
• Group analysis using CHART & ICF competencies
• PRACTICAL: Small group practice sessions with peer feedback using observation checklist
WEEK 10 – PRACTISING ADHD COACHING PT. 2 & INTEGRATION
• Entire lesson is lecturer doing demonstration using CHART & ICF marking criteria
• Showing what will be expected in pro-bono recording submission
• Ethical considerations and confidentiality
• Maintaining safe, supportive environment
• Building your ADHD coaching practice
• PRACTICAL: Students conduct mini-coaching sessions with feedback focused on their
upcoming pro-bono assignment
Important Note:
This is an ICF Accredited Elective added to the Diploma of Coaching ICF LVL 2 course. Not a stand-alone course unless previous coaching studies have been done with ICF Accreditation.
